Every Friday and Saturday, this open air farmers market is set up near campus. It is amazing how many booths there are! People are selling vegetables (green beans, peppers, lettuce, carrots, avocados, etc.),
verduras (yucca, squashes, potatoes), fruits (papaya, coconuts, bananas, plantains, mangos, pineapples, apples, grapes, limes, mandarines, mamone chinos, jacotes, maracuyas, etc.), flowers, honey, bread and pastries, fresh meats, and fresh seafood! The whole market is like a painting of vibrant colors!
I enjoyed the juice of a green coconut and some tasty cookie twists. =)

I was dying to have a piƱa, but I didn't know how to ask them to cut it up for me. And then I would have had the issue of carrying it around and eating it with no container, napkins, etc. Haha! I just drooled from afar...

Mamone Chinos (perhaps the world's strangest looking fruit)

Delicious cookie yum-yum.
