Tonight my friend Ellie and I went over to our Tica friend Libia's house for dinner.
She is so sweet and very fun to hang out with. She has been helping us with our Spanish (forcing us to use our knowledge of the language and then explaining things very thoroughly and clearly when we are confused). We enjoyed a typical Costa Rican meal of plantanos fritos, picadilla, arroz, frijoles, queso, aguacates, and chiles picantes. The meal was very yummy, as all of them seem to be =) Ellie and I also tried the unpasturized milk that Libia's family receives in a glass jar every week. Hah! It was good - thick, rich, and pure tasting.
After dinner we sat and chatted in Spanish, made up fake conversations, and laughed a lot.
We then moved into the living room and sat down with Libia's computer. She had several projects she wanted help editing for her English classes. It was neat because even though Libia knew one of the papers would not be regraded, she wanted to revise it and take notes on all the new words we proposed she use. She really wants to perfect her English!
After more conversation, snuggles with Libia's dog Celeste (see the cutie below), and laughs we called it a night. It is so neat because even though the three of us have only known each other for less than 3 weeks we talk and hang out as if we have been dear friends for years. =) Great fun!
God is the Lord who provides.
